PPTI Research Publication Trends and Strategic Positioning

Abstract

This report examines 559 distinct Scopus-indexed publications associated with 64 PPTI researchers during the 24-month period from 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2026. The publications appeared in 314 journals and had received 2,543 citations at the time of data collection. The analysis considers publication activity, journal concentration, citation visibility, open-access status, and recurring author keywords to describe the institution's recent research profile. The results show a broad journal portfolio, with the ten most frequently used titles accounting for 20% of publications. International Journal of Biological Macromolecules was the most frequently used journal, with 22 articles, while Fermentation was the most prevalent normalized author keyword, appearing in 14 publications. Open-access articles represented 43% of the portfolio. Journals below the established tier accounted for 73% of publications, while developing and exploratory keywords accounted for 89% of publication–keyword associations. Compared with the August 2026 edition, the rolling portfolio contained 13 more distinct publications; its cumulative citation total was 251 higher and the open-access share moved +1.0 percentage points. Together, these findings provide an evidence base for understanding PPTI's publication patterns and for aligning future manuscripts with demonstrated areas of research activity and journal experience.

1. Scope and method

The report is based on Scopus publication records associated with PPTI researchers and dated between 1 October 2024 to 30 September 2026. The unit of analysis is a distinct Scopus-indexed publication rather than an author–publication record; consequently, a publication co-authored by more than one PPTI researcher is counted once in the portfolio totals. Citation values represent the cumulative Scopus counts available when the dataset was collected, and thematic analysis is based on normalized author keywords. Monthly commentary is generated by comparing the current metrics and rankings with the preceding saved edition under the same methodology. Journal and keyword frequencies therefore describe both the present portfolio and any material movement since the previous report.

2. Publication activity

Output was broadly stable, moving from 11 publications in August 2026 to 9 in September 2026. The latest month was 37% below the preceding six-month average of 14.3 publications. Across the full reporting period, monthly output reached its highest level in January 2025, when 103 distinct publications were recorded. The open-access series is a subset of total output and shows the portion of monthly publications available through an open-access route.

3. Journal distribution

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules remained the leading journal, with 22 distinct publications, unchanged from the previous edition. The institution's output was distributed across 314 journals, and the ten most frequently used titles accounted for 20% of the portfolio. 3.1 Most publication activity sits beyond the established journal group

The developing and exploratory tiers contain 297 journals and account for 408 publications, or 73% of the portfolio. The tier view therefore complements the leading-journal ranking by distinguishing repeated institutional experience from new and specialist outlet use. 8 new journals entered the rolling portfolio; 4 moved from exploratory to developing status; 3 moved into the established tier. ACS Omega recorded the largest increase, gaining 3 publications to reach 7.

3.3 Publication frequency and citation visibility

5. Conclusion

PPTI's recent Scopus-indexed output is characterized by sustained publication activity, a broad journal base, and identifiable concentrations of research expertise. Across 559 distinct publications, the portfolio combines repeated use of established outlets with dissemination across 314 journals, while 43% of articles were available through open access. The tier analysis shows that 73% of publications occurred in developing or exploratory journals and that 89% of publication–keyword associations sat outside the established keyword tier. Compared with the August 2026 edition, the rolling portfolio contained 13 more distinct publications; its cumulative citation total was 251 higher and the open-access share moved +1.0 percentage points. The journal and keyword results together document the institution's recent publication position and provide a reproducible baseline against which subsequent reporting periods can be compared.
